The Iberian Pig

Carefully selected pigs, the richest woodland areas and pastures, adequate climate conditions and the most advanced food safety control technology give us the best product.
There are 3 categories of Iberian products depending on the pigs’ breed and feeding:

Acorn-fed 100% Iberian breed
Acorn-fed Iberian Breed
Countryside fodder-fed
Fodder-fed

ACORN FED IBERIAN CATEGORY

Pigs naturally feed on acorns, pastures  and  other  natural  resources  of the  dehesa   (woodland populated by acorn trees).   Acorn-fed Iberian pigs are sacrificed straight away after they have completed the acorn feeding period. Regulatory requirements are:  A minimum of 14 months of age, between 161 and 175 kg of live weight, and a minimum of 115 kg of weight for the carcass (108 kg. for Acorn-fed 100 % Iberian breed pigs) at sacrifice.  At least 10 months of age when entering the acorn feeding period. Weight gain on acorn feeding of at least 46 kgduring a minimum of 60 days.

COUNTRYSIDE FODDER FED IBERIAN CATEGORY

This category of products comes from pigs which have been fed mainly on cereals and pastures. Each free-range pig must have at least 100 m2 of free land, where they must stay for at least 60 days prior to sacrifice, with a minimum 12 months of age and 115 kg of weight for the carcass (108 kg for 100 % Iberian breed).

FODDER FED IBERIAN CATEGORY

This category of products comes from pigs which have been mainly fed on cereals and legumes. Each pig must have at least 2 m2 of free space, and have at least 10 months of age and 115 kg of weight for the carcass at sacrifice (108 kgs for 100 % Iberian breed).
